Las Vegas Comedian Don Barnhart's New Book Rock Bottom Shines Light On Veteran's Homeless Issue

In his new book, author Don Barnhart uses a humorous yet tender approach to bring awareness to the increased number of homeless veterans and the epidemic proportions of veteran's suicide. Rock Bottom explores the painfully funny downward spiral that happens when one's dreams don't work out according to plan.

Rock Bottom tells the story of fictional character, highly decorated military veteran Guy Derek. Derek returns home after serving several 'extended' tours in Afghanistan only to find that his wife has left him, his house is foreclosed and she gave away his dog.

Reacting rather poorly to the situation as one might do, Guy begins to drink...and he drinks a lot, spiraling downward until he finally hits rock bottom and ends up living on the streets of Las Vegas. In an effort to regain his life, Guy transforms into the Robin Hood of the homeless finding out that pain plus time equals funny and eventually finds his way back through the use of his wit and humor.

Rock Bottom is loosely based upon the author's own life, experiences and pitfalls along with the other hardships of pursuing his dream of becoming a standup comedian. When he's not on tour, Barnhart is a resident headliner and stars in his own show performing nightly at Jokesters Comedy Club in Las Vegas at The D Casino.

Don Barnhart's comedy has been called, "A thrill ride of well-written, topical material exploring modern day society in a way that is hysterical, intelligent and thought provoking. Don's ability to keep audiences of all ages howling with laughter and coming back for more is what separates him from the average joke teller."

Since 1992, Don Barnhart has been entertaining the troops around the world and continues to do so to this day with Battle Comics. He is dedicated to helping our veterans both abroad and at home and is one of the stars of the documentary I Am Battle Comicshowing the importance of entertaining the troops in a war zone featuring interviews with George Lopez, Dave Attell and George Wallace. Barnhart is an award-winning comedian, best-selling author, actor, hypnotist, filmmaker, keynote speaker and his new book Rock Bottom is already being turned into a screenplay.

Barnhart can be seen in the new standup show, Jokesters TV, stars in the documentary, Finding The Funny with Brad Garret and Louie Anderson and wrote and stars in the web series Class Clowns. In his off time Don teaches stand up, improv and comedy writing at The Las Vegas Comedy Institute.
