Jackie Adams has completed his new book "Doggeral (Urban Ballads)": a gripping collection of urban ballads, which are art songs and poems that hint at oppression, bewilderment, and hate.

According to Adams "I'm fifty-two years old. I have spent the last seventeen years in Georgia State Prison where I was beaten, starved, and denied adequate legal representation. I am also the lyricist for close to or more than two thousand art songs performed by nearly every major recording artist from 1978 to the present. I am also the writer who coined the phrase Hip-Hop. I presently live in a boarding house in parts unknown while my case is presently under investigation with the Federal Bureau of Investigations."

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Jackie Adams's emotional collection of urban ballads is narrated by Doggerel, who speaks in soliloquy while confined in isolation of a maximum-security prison. Doggerel hints at oppression, bewilderment, and hate in each composition. Because Doggerel is confined for a crime that he did not commit, Doggerel starts out with "Punching the Clock" which indicates he is going to work it out. Inadequate police training and anti-government sentiment is implied in "The Flying Guillotine." "Baton Rouge" takes us to the Mardi Gras, a yearly event which Doggerel attends. "We Are in Motion" is an inspiration composition about solitary confinement.

In summation, Doggerel is influenced by romance, religion, and his fiery soul with urbanization being the back drop. "Doggeral (Urban Ballads)" is a good read and a reference guide for neophytes and old poet lyricists that wants to understand the literature of today in every genre of music.

Readers who wish to experience this irreverent work can purchase "Doggeral (Urban Ballads)" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
