The creative, fertile and imaginative mind of Author JW Gee delivers a series of enormously entertaining short stories that showcases the author's quirky, baby boomer perspective of his anecdotal and extraordinary experiences while serving in the United States Army.

Reflections of a Partly Cloudy Mind begins with a hilarious story about the unintended consequences of a sibling rivalry and then launches the reader on a fascinating and memorable sojourn through the author's extensive military career, first as a counterintelligence agent and later as an Army CID agent. From dealing with losing his military draft student deferment during the Vietnam War to serving as a bodyguard for the Secretary of Defense, the author provides the reader with a uniquely informative and often outrageously funny rumination of a soldier's life in the United States Army intelligence and law enforcement communities as illustrated by the following excerpt from the chapter titled 'A Pointed Boot':

""Yes sir, one of those gentlemen had a bad case of sanpaku."

Have you ever had the out-of-body experience where you hear your voice but wonder why you are saying what you are saying? That is what happened to me here. As soon as those words left my lips, I regretted them. I was so desperate to have a conversation with this legendary Texas Ranger that I manufactured an opportunity to speak to him and then said something really stupid. I knew as soon as I said it that his response was not going to stimulate a collegial discussion among professionals of the same ilk. His face became quizzical and he asked without looking at me, "Sam-pack who?"

With great trepidation, I began explaining sanpaku..."

Readers will learn about sanpaku, snafu, the Asoh Defense, and other obscure forms of military jargon and acronyms. They will be introduced to an ornery barnyard cat, modern day cattle rustlers, clever investigative techniques and the perils of using foreign language translators to determine case facts. They will also laugh in wonderment at the murky world of lie detection using a polygraph instrument. The colorful and memorable characters described in each chapter, to include the author, are alternating frail and courageous, naïve and crafty, cynical and patriotic, but always captivatingly authentic.

Reflections of a Partly Cloudy Mind is unlike any other book about life in the United States military. The uncommon stories and genuine characters will intrigue and amuse readers while revealing a practical, often compelling moral underlying each story told. Readers will find this book hard to put down until each story has been consumed completely.
