During the Gold Rush era, a multitude of people moved to the California Area, in search of gold and a better life. It was also during this era that mining towns started popping up, and attracted all kinds of people, from decent hard working people to unsavory and dangerous characters. In "Gold Fever" (published by Xlibris) author Burton "Bud" Durr has written an engrossing new take on the Wild West genre.

"Gold Fever" follows the adventures of Buster Hagen, who leaves his family's ranch to establish a ranch of his own. Skilled with the use of weapons and uncommonly large and strong he finds work as a deputy for a small gold mining town. But he soon finds out that the mining town is overrun by unsavory and greedy characters, and now it's his job to clean the place up. But it won't be easy because a string of crimes start popping up all over the town and everyone is a suspect.

This immersive read takes readers on a wild west adventure combined with a suspense filled mystery. "Gold Fever" is a truly entertaining read that captures the essence of the good old western genre.
