Ella Parks Invites the Readers to Take 'Lucy's Path' in Debut Novel In her debut novel titled “Lucy’s Path” (published by Archway Publishing), Ella Parks takes the readers back to a period in history when women were powerless, had no voice and were treated as property. Combined with her vivid imagination, Parks created a book that is all about human rights, hardship and enduring love.

In the story, readers will get to know Lucy. She is a young girl raised on a farm surrounded by family and friends, believing she knows the path her future will take. Although young, she falls in love with Billy - and him with her. As they grow together, they plan to marry, but that is when everything changes. Lucy’s father borrows money he cannot repay, and to her horror, he agrees to a marriage between her and Mr. Simmons to repay the debt. This is her story of isolation and fear as she struggles with her marriage to a man she both hates and fears. If she is ever to be reunited with her one true love, she must fight to survive.

The book highlights injustice that is always relevant in any society. “I wanted the reader to feel the injustice of using power or money to control someone while taking away all means of escape,” Parks reveals. Even though it is a story revealing deep suffering, Parks also hopes that the reader recognizes Lucy’s great courage.
