Collision, A New Novel By Arizona Author

PHOENIX, July 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ Debra Cooper, a professional writer and speaker for more than 30 years, has written a compelling new novel, Collision. This is her second book.

The story begins on a sunny August morning when an airplane leaves San Diego for New York with hundreds of people on board. Within minutes, the flight crashes into a mountain in what is later described as one of the worst airline disasters in the history of aviation. The stories of a priest, a neurosurgeon, a supermodel and a father are intertwined in myriad ways. What happens in the lives of these diverse people prior to the crash and whether any of them survive keeps readers wanting more.

"Writing fiction is as gratifying as it is demanding," said Cooper. "I sit at a computer as the lives of my characters, with all their triumphs and tragedies, unfold in my mind. My job is to communicate their individual stories to the reader. The task is relentlessly challenging and I love it. "

Due to a tragic accident, Cooper has been totally blind since the age of 14. She graduated from Arcadia high school and Arizona State University, then taught secondary education for three years in the Valley of the Sun. During that time, she represented the United States in the Olympics for the disabled.

"For Collision, I wrote and rewrote in order to do justice to the men and woman in my story because they deserved no less," adds Cooper.

Cooper started her career at The Arizona Republic where she worked for eight years. Subsequently, she worked for Mountain Living magazine and the Summit Christian newspaper in Flagstaff, Ariz. While working at a treatment center in Wickenburg, she published her first novel, Behind the Broken Image. Today, Cooper works as a full-time writer for Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center near Chicago that treats women and girls with addictions, trauma, mood and eating disorders.

Cooper lives in Flagstaff, Ariz. with her husband, Joe. She is the mother of a son, Zack. She is passionate about yoga, volunteer work, professional football, felines, good people and excellent writing.
