LAS VEGAS, Sept. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ Recently, campus stores at all three locations of the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) partnered with the college to support local food bank Three Square and give back to the community. The Combined efforts of the Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas campuses even broke donation records of campaigns in previous years. Their energy resulted in 550 pounds of food and $7,500 in cash donations each dollar donated will produce three meals for those in need.

The success of the food bank donation campaign lay in the hands of Follett campus store managers who went above and beyond to raise awareness and emphasize to students the importance of giving back. The stores held drives to collect food and funds and promoted the event with creative promotional materials all over the three locations. "The store managers became very enthused about making the drive a success," said CSN Senior Director of Auxiliary Services Judy Ruter. "They held little competitions with their team members within each store and publicized the event at each of their campuses like never before."

The food donation campaigns began two years ago, when Follett store managers approached the college about starting a fundraising initiative to give back to a local food bank. For the first food drive in 2015, $4,000 was raised. In 2016, only $2,000. "I met with the store managers to try to determine why the second year was less successful and we brainstormed ideas about how we could produce better results," said Judy. They decided to add an additional week to the drive and made sure they had more than enough compelling posters and other awareness materials to make an impact.

"The success of the drive was completely the result of the tremendous push by the managers and staff," Judy added. "We certainly appreciate the teamwork between the college and the Follett staff to make this happen."
