In a world rife with societal problems and endless showdown for global dominion, author Alfred V. Cafiero weaves a compelling story set in the Mid-West that reflects the common dilemma most citizens face today. "Electra" (published by Xlibris) will take readers on a journey full of hope and a promise of a better tomorrow.

A utopian type city and the envy of every city in the U.S., Electra provides its citizens with the benefit of good government. But the advantage of superior amenities lulled the people into complacency, believing that their good life would last forever. This lead them to stop participating in civic affairs, and thus, neglecting their right to vote. Soon, their indifference gives way for criminal elements to establish a foothold in city government. The tentacles of corruption penetrate every office, and the once great city is now degenerated into one of crime and vice. There is the rampant rise of gambling, prostitution and drugs.

It is up to two wealthy individuals to restore the city to its former glory by combining their resources, influence and expertise in a resourceful yet questionable plan. One of them is Calvin Cain, a man who came from humble beginnings but paved his way to wealth and greatness through his intelligence and fearless nature. He is the architect of the plan. He is helped by John Winthrop Hamilton III, a philanthropist and the moral guide in executing the plan into fruition. Although daring, dangerous and unethical, will this viable plan succeed?

A fast-paced gripping read, "Electra" has everything readers would want in a book - danger, suspense, excitement, history, romance, sex and a unique solution to a vexing problem.
