This month, Thug Passion Presents takes on Belly, the 1998 crime/drama film directed by Hype Williams and starring DMX and Nas. ABOUT THUG PASSION PRESENTS Thug Passion Presents is a table reading series and comedic interpretation of classic black cinema. Thug Passion Presents was borne from two comedians sharing their love for underrated black movies; the films that are commonly known as "hood classics." It's about having a blast while performing and breaking down scenes from these movies with fellow comedians. It's about celebrating the influence these films have had in molding today's culture. Shalewa Sharpe tells jokes. She developed her sly yet goofy style in Atlanta, where she was raised. Currently based in Brooklyn, she has joked on enough shows (Night Train w/Wyatt Cenac), festivals (Bridgetown, RiotLA, Eugene Mirman Fest) and podcasts (2 Dope Queens, You're The Expert) that Time Out NY has labeled her a "local fixture." She co-produces and hosts Thug Passion Presents, a lively table read and celebration of classic black movies. Courtney Fearrington is a New York based comedian that has already shown he has the ability to make any group of people laugh. His style of comedy crosses boundaries and touches on a variety of topics. Courtney has quickly become a fixture on the comedy scene with his likable personality and quick wit. He has been featured at comedy clubs and festivals all over the country, including the Bentzen Ball festival.
