The Directors Company/Studio to Temporarily Close Amid Covid-19

The Directors Company/Studio to temporarily close amid virus:

Dear TDC Family,

We are writing this sending hopes and well wishes for your health and safety during these unprecedented times. It's with a heavy heart that we must let you know, beginning today, March 17, in addition to postponing our production of Chicken & Biscuits, reading series and classes, The Directors Company will be closing our doors temporarily for the first time in our 40-year history, in accordance with our Mayor's most recent executive order that shutters restaurants, bars, concert venues, movies, and small theaters during the virus crisis.

The Directors Company relies on a steady stream of income from the rental of our space, and without it, we cannot afford to sustain our model of operation.

However, there is bright news on the horizon! When we all reemerge on the other side of this, and as soon as we don't have to keep "social distance" from one another, we will be so excited to share our new space with you and welcome you into our new home at 12 W. 11th Street. And there will soon be exciting announcements for two Off-Broadway shows we are opening this fall!

In the meantime, we are brainstorming ways to utilize online forums to host classes, readings, and even one person shows as a way to keep our community of actors, directors, and playwrights active - and paid (have an idea? please reach out!) These are difficult times, but once the dust settles from this global crisis, we will all need our community of artists, like The Directors Company, and all fellow nonprofit theaters, more than ever.

Stay safe. Stay strong. We're all in this together.

Gratefully yours,

Michael Parva, Artistic Director & Leah Michalos, Producing Director
