BAM and Wordless Music Present Paul Thomas Anderson's PHANTOM THREAD with Live Score

Nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Score, Paul Thomas Anderson's Phantom Thread starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Vicky Krieps, and Lesley Manville, will be screened at BAM for one night only with Jonny Greenwood's (Radiohead) live score. New York's Wordless Music Orchestra will team up with principals from London Contemporary Orchestra, who recorded Greenwood's original score for Nonesuch Records. Together, the orchestra will perform the entirety of Greenwood's score-which accompanies more than 70% of the film-along with compositions by Brahms, Schubert, Faure, and Debussy. This marks the third collaboration between Anderson and Wordless Music, which has performed live score events for the director's previous features There Will Be Blood and Punch Drunk Love.

Wordless Music Orchestra is the house band of New York City's Wordless Music series, which was founded by non-musician Ronen Givony in 2006 and has since presented concerts in museums, churches, nightclubs, and outdoors, pairing artists from the sound worlds of so-called classical, electronic, and rock music. Comprising some of New York's most omnivorous young musicians and members of groups such as Alarm Will Sound, ACME, and Ensemble Signal, the orchestra has performed at the Sydney Opera House, Lincoln Center, BAM, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Guggenheim Museum, and Library of Congress, and collaborated with artists such as Jonny Greenwood, Paul Thomas Anderson, Jónsi Birgisson, Mica Levi, Max Richter, Jóhann Jóhannsson, John Cale, Stars of the Lid, Tyondai Braxton, MONO, Goldfrapp, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, and William Basinski. Recent performances by Wordless Music Orchestra at BAM include the 2017 Next Wave presentation of John Cale's 50th Anniversary of The Velvet Underground & Nico and John Cale's 75th Birthday Celebration as well as the 2016 screenings of Terrence Malick's Tree of Life and Paul Thomas Anderson's Punch Drunk Love.

London Contemporary Orchestra is a leading global orchestral group focused on playing, commissioning and developing new music and artistic output. Alongside working with well-known artists, LCO focus on developing a diverse next generation of players, conductors and composers by creating opportunities for them to work at the highest professional level.
