Star of The King and I, Lisa McCune will swap her opulent gowns for exercise gear as a Queensland Ambassador for the Women in Super Mother's Day Classic on Sunday 11 May.

Australia's favourite leading lady and four-time Gold Logie winner Lisa McCune, who stars as English governess Anna Leonowens opposite internationally acclaimed baritone Teddy Tahu Rhodes as the King, will attend and officially fire the start gun for the Mothers Day Classic 4.5km walk at 8.50am at South Bank.

Women in Super Mother's Day Classic is Australia's largest breast cancer research fundraiser, and organisers are encouraging people to get on board for the Sunday May 11 event in the fight against a disease that impacts one in eight women.

Lisa will be joined at the event by breast cancer survivor and author Stacey Charbachi.

Lisa said some years ago she read Queenslander Stacey Charbaci's very honest account 'Climbing Mountains' about her battle with breast cancer.

"Being invited this year to be an ambassador, I felt compelled to make contact with Stacey. I think it's important that these personal stories are shared, to educate and inspire others. I am very honoured to be giving my support and also pleased that The King And I company is getting behind the Mother's Day Classic by donating $10 from tickets sold to performances from 13 to 18 May.

Tickets to The King and I would make a perfect Mother's Day gift while supporting a worthy cause. Simply purchase any Premium or A-Reserve ticket for select performances of The King and I from 13-18 May, and $10 from each ticket will be donated back to the Mother's Day Classic to raise much-needed funds for breast cancer research.
