QPAC Invites You Backstage in Biscuit Land
Direct from the UK, Backstage in Biscuit Land arrives at the Cremorne Theatre, Queensland Performing Arts Centre(QPAC), from 19 to 23 October 2016.
For the first time in Queensland, this two-woman solo-show weaves comedy, puppetry, singing and incredible tics to explore spontaneity, creativity, disability and things you never knew would make you laugh.
Jess Thom has Tourette's, a condition that makes her say 'biscuit' 16,000 times a day. Neurologically incapable of staying on script due to her condition, Thom, with her assistant, Chopin (Jess Mabel Jones) take audiences on a journey celebrating the humour and creativity of Tourette's, where no two shows can ever be the same.
Geranium bashing and penguin gangbangs may or may not feature; and that's when the fun begins. Jess' unusual neurology gives her a unique perspective on life; one she's unleashing on the world.
Co-created by Jess Thom, Jess Mabel Jones and Matthew Pountney, Backstage in Biscuit Land turns Thom's tics into a source of creative energy; to spread the word about this frequently misunderstood neurological condition.
A visual artist and a graduate of London's Royal College of Art, Jess Thom founded Touretteshero to celebrate the humour that can emerge from Tourette's, challenge misconceptions about the syndrome and encourage people to familiarise themselves with the creative opportunities it presents.
Don't miss out on seeing this extraordinarily entertaining piece of theatre. Tickets to Backstage in Biscuit Land are on sale now via qpac.com.au or call 136 246.
