In “War & Peace” Cambridge Community Chorus presents music that reflects the anguish of war and the perennial human longing for peace. Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass is a dramatic masterpiece for chorus, orchestra, and soloists, written in 1798 at a time of political upheaval during Napoleon’s military campaigns in Europe and Egypt. Two settings of the Latin text “Dona nobis pacem” (Give us peace, Oh Lord) by celebrated Latvian composer Peteris Vasks, and the majestic final movement from J.S. Bach’s Mass in B minor express hope for the future of humanity. Under the baton of Music Director Pamela Mindell, Cambridge's premier large-scale chorus is joined by a professional orchestra and by acclaimed vocal soloists Caroline Spaeth, soprano, Rosalin Osser, mezzo soprano, Xiao Shi, tenor, and Junhan Choi, bass. Artists: Caroline Spaeth, soprano, Rosalin Osser, mezzo-soprano, Xiao Shi, tenor, Junhan Choi, bass Time: 16:00 - 17:30
Kresge Auditorium is at 48 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA.
