Little Music School and FSPA to Hold Open House 9/10
Franklin's Little Music School, a children's program exclusive to the Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA), will hold an Open House with complimentary class demonstrations on Saturday, Sept. 10th from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. This event will be held in conjunction with an all-school Open House from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at FSPA, 38 Main Street in downtown Franklin.
The Little Music SchoolTM (LMS) is an innovative music program that teaches children as young as eighteen months how to play the piano and explore the musical world around them. LMS classes are taught in a cheerful and colorful environment where children have fun playing together, moving rhythmically, singing, dancing, making music with different instruments and learning to play the piano.
The LMS class demonstrations will be offered during the following time slots: 18-24-month-olds: 9:30-10 a.m.; 2 and 3-year-olds: 10-10:30 a.m.; and 4 and 5-year-olds: 10:30-11 a.m. Parents and children are invited to come and participate in singing, creative movement, and storytelling. Kim Rezendes, the Director of the Little Music School, will provide an overview of the program, which includes weekly group classes as well as short private sessions for older children, recital performance opportunities, and a special LMS graduation celebration for children when they complete the program.
During FSPA's Open House, the community is invited to meet the faculty, tour the facility and learn about its programs in Music, Dance and Drama. The Music Department offers private lessons and classes in all instruments and voice with ensemble opportunities available. FSPA's Dance Department includes programs in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern, and Hip Hop. Special classes for boys only, adults and teen beginners offer students at all levels the opportunity to take classes with peers. The School's Drama Department offers Acting and Musical Theater classes at all levels with extensive performing opportunities. FSPA students may audition for musical theater and dance ensembles that perform throughout the local community, travel domestically and tour abroad. FSPA students also may audition, along with members of the community, for performances with the Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC).
Fall classes at both the Little Music School and FSPA begin Sept. 12th. For more information about the Open Houses or to request a course catalog, visit www.FSPAonline.com or call (508) 528-8668.
