FSPA Announces Instrumental Ensembles

By:

The Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) is pleased to announce two ensembles for musicians of all ages, Saturday Sessions and Percussion Ensemble. Both programs begin January 15th and will meet throughout the winter and spring seasons.

Students in Saturday Sessions explore all genres of music, including jazz, R&B, rock, blues, funk and pop. This program is open to students of all ages, instruments, and abilities, and is a valuable way for musicians to supplement their private instrumental instruction. Saturday Sessions are led by FSPA Faculty Members Arnie Krakowsky and Kenny Hadley and will meet in the new year on Saturdays at FSPA from 2 to 4 p.m., beginning January 15th. Musicians are welcome to join at any time and are not required to study privately at FSPA.

An Instructor of Woodwinds at FSPA, Krakowsky has performed with many well-known musicians including Tony Bennett, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Jr., The Four Tops, and The Temptations. He attended Berklee College of Music and studied saxophone with Joe Viola, Eddie Daniels and Jerry Bergonzi. With over twenty years of teaching experience, Krakowsky joined the FSPA Music Faculty in 2007. He is also part of the horn section that plays and tours with FSPA's Electric Youth show.

Kenny Hadley is an Instructor of Drums and joined the FSPA Music Faculty in 1998. He has extensive teaching experience, including leading master classes and teaching clinics throughout New England. He has played throughout the United States, Europe and South America and has worked with many well-known musicians including Van Morrison, Dizzy Gillespie, The Count Basie Orchestra, Peter Wolf, and The Drifters. Hadley is the orchestra contractor for FSPA and the Franklin Performing Arts also tours with Electric Youth.

Led by Hadley, FSPA's Percussion Ensemble is open to his students by audition and will meet on Saturdays at FSPA from 12 to 2 p.m. It introduces students to rudiments of Latin drumming techniques, ensemble and orchestral playing, with solo and ensemble work.

Founded in 1985, FSPA brings all performing arts disciplines together under one roof, offering Music, Dance and Drama training to students interested in serious study and those who enjoy the arts as recreation. Beginners are welcome!

For more information regarding these ensembles or to request a course catalogue, call the School at (508) 528-8668 or visit online at www.fspaonline.com. Registration is ongoing and can be done in person at the School, 38 Main Street, Franklin, or over the phone.
