The 2011 Friends and Neighbors Festival: 20 hours with $20 AUDITIONS! Sunday, April 10 from 12pm-4pm
The premise: Seven new playwrights have been selected from over 100 submissions to be featured in this year's Friends and Neighbors Festival. Each play has been assigned to a director who is limited to 20 hours of rehearsal time and a $20 budget. Each play is limited to a black stage and a set consisting of 8 stage blocks. All costumes must be black. Tech time is limited to 3 hours and 3 lighting "looks." The festival will take place June 1-19, 2011.
The reason: One of the plays in this year's Friends and Neighbors Festival will be included in the Strand's 2011-2012 season. You, the audience, will help us select this play by attending each performance in the festival and sending in your recommendations. We have limited the rehearsal period and budget to give each production an equal amount of resources.
To Audition: Please prepare a one minute monologue (comedic or dramatic) and be prepared to read sides. Auditions will take place on a drop-in basis, although scheduling a time slot is encouraged. If you have any questions about the festival or to schedule a time slot, please email Jayme Kilburn: jkilburn@strandtheatercompany.org.
