THE RAINBOW PLAYS to Run at Fells Point Corner Theatre, 7/5-21

Fells Point Corner Theatre and the Baltimore Playwrights Festival present The Rainbow Plays by Rich Espey, directed by Lisa Davidson, playing from July 5 to July 21, 2013.

The Rainbow Flag, symbolizing the gay pride and gay rights movement, was created more than thirty years ago. In its current version, the flag consists of six horizontal stripes, each of which has a symbolic meaning: red (life), orange (healing), yellow (sunshine), green (nature), blue (harmony) and purple (spirit). The first six plays in this collection each address one of those themes; the seventh play incorporates them all into one.

Rich Espey's plays have been produced throughout the United States. He is a three time winner of the Carol Weinberg Award for best play at the Baltimore Playwrights Festival for Fifty-Fifty, Hope's Arbor, and Following Sarah. Rich is the Baltimore Regional representative of the Dramatists Guild, a member of DC's Playwrights Gymnasium and the Playwrights Group of Baltimore. He has served as Chair of the Baltimore Playwrights Festival and just completed a four-year stint as President of the Board of Single Carrot Theatre. He has taught playwriting at CENTERSTAGE and teaches at The Park School of Baltimore.

Director, Lisa Davidson is a 2011 graduate of St. Mary's College of Maryland, obtaining her B.A. in Theater, Film and Media Studies. The Rainbow Plays marks Davidson's Baltimore directing debut. Most recent directing credits include So Wise So Young (BOOM Theatre Co. 2013), Kingdom of the Spider/Amorica (SMCM 2011), and Vagina Monologues (SMCM 2011.) Featured in the cast of The Rainbow Plays are: Kelly Cavanaugh, Steve Ferguson, Rasheed Green, Jennifer Hasselbusch, Jared Jiacinto, Vanessa Lee, Amy Miller and Grace Yeon.

Performances of The Rainbow Plays are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm. There will be one Thursday show on July 18th at 8 pm. All performances - $15.To purchase tickets, go to www.fpct.org.
