Glass Mind Theatre Presents Brainstorm v.2: Baltimore Mixtape, Opens 5/18

By:

Glass Mind Theatre is thrilled to present the return of the company's original play festival, Brainstorm, with Volume 2: Baltimore Mix Tape! This year, Glass Mind accepted submissions from the general public for song titles that served as influence for the playwright's pieces, while last year they accepted play ideas. Music will infuse Baltimore Mixtape - one different local musician will play every weekend of the production. The play festival runs from May 13-29, 2011.

Glass Mind welcomes three local musicians who will play before, during and after the performances. The musicians are guitarist Dave DeDionisio, Adam Trice of Red Sammy, and Quinn Struke, playing the first, second and third weekends respectively.

Glass Mind is especially excited about collaboration with a group of students from the Baltimore Lab School - which educates students with moderate to severe learning disabilities - who wrote their own piece entitled "Dust". The students were led by Susan Rome, the School's Performing Arts and Academic Club Coordinator. Britt Olsen-Ecker, Glass Mind company member and Peabody
graduate, is overseeing the festival.

"The theme of music is really broad, which leaves a lot of room for creativity," says Olsen-Ecker.

"Music speaks to everyone which is why it was so appealing to incorporate into Brainstorm this
year."

Opening Night, Friday May 18, Glass Mind presents a new tradition, the Boh-st (Natty Boh toast) after the show. Closing Night, May 29, will conclude with a potluck jam - audience members can bring a dish and their instrument! The instrument will merit a discount.

Brainstorm v.2: Baltimore Mixtape runs Friday-Sunday, from May 13 to May 29. Friday and Saturday shows are at 8pm, while Sunday shows are at 7. All performances are at Load of Fun Theatre, 120 West North Avenue, Baltimore MD.
