CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION Auditions Held at FPCT 11/12, 11/14

Auditions for CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION are to be held Saturday, Nov. 12th at 11:00 AM and Monday, November 14 at 7:00 PM at the theatre, 251 South Ann St., Fells Point.

People will read from the script.

Circle Mirror Transformation is a terrific "actor's" play which will require its cast to create a very tight ensemble while playing their roles with a "natural" quality and depth of feeling that doesn't look like acting at all. It is a very warm and funny play about a group of ordinary people in Vermont who take a weekly acting class together and, in the process, reveal hidden parts of themselves and, in some sense, achieve transformation. It's been described as "a beautifully crafted diorama, a petri dish in which we see, with hilarious detail and clarity, the antic sadness of a motley quintet." A true ensemble, each of the roles in this play are leading roles.

Auditions will be held for the following roles:

James: 55-60 years old. A former idealist turned corporate lawyer. While he at first appears to be the strong, silent type, there is an undercurrent of suppressed anger that could explode at any time as he deals with an estranged teenage daughter and a second marriage that has perhaps become stale.

Schultz: 45-50 years old. A carpenter by trade. A truly good and decent person who hasn't been able to restart his life after the breakup of his marriage. A bit haunted. And maybe too nice and caring for his own good. You know the type, all the women want to be his friend but ....

Lauren: 16. Note that we are not looking for high school age girls for this role. Due to the demands of the show, we are looking for someone 18-25 who can convincingly play 16. Lauren is a typical bored, sardonic teen. Perhaps a bit of a "goth" quality but even more like "Darlene" from the old Roseanne show.
