The Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower (21 South Eutaw Street) hosts Joe Dennison's KARKOVICE from June 23rd to the 26th. The one-act play will be in Studio 21 at the Tower at 8 pm during the run. Tickets are $15 and can be purchase on-line at brownpapertickets.com.

The play features Mark Squirek and tells the story of where does an aging artist find hope when confronting tragic loss. Playwright Dennison graduated the University of Maryland in 1981 with a degree in Theater Arts. Since then he has had a few one acts performed off Broadway and several full lengths produced in the Baltimore area. He is a four time Maryland Arts Council "Excellence in Playwriting" award winner. Most recently he was named Baltimore City Paper's Best Playwright in 2004. Over the past 3 decades he has had many productions via the Baltimore Playwright's Festival and hopes to be produced there again in the not too distant future. Joe's biggest influences were Tennessee Williams, Edward Albee, Mamet, Brecht, Pinter, Rod Serling and to a certain extent Neil Simon. He considers himself a dark humorist with absurdist tendencies. His many stories have dealt with the war in Vietnam, Alzheimer's, baseball and the war between the sexes which he admits to losing.
