The songs of George and Ira Gershwin are the inspiration of this Tony Award winning musical comedy that brings to the stage the nostalgic showmanship of 1930's Broadway. With a book written by Ken Ludwig, Crazy For You is perfect blend of classic American music, unforgettable dancing and riotous laughter, featuring such Gershwin hits as I Got Rhythm, Someone To Watch Over Me, Embraceable You, and They Can't Take That Away From Me. Crazy For You will play the following performance schedule: Thursdays at 8:00 p.m., Fridays at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., and Sundays at 2:00 p.m.

Auditions for Twelve Angry Men will be held Monday, August 31, and Tuesday, September 1, from 7 to 9 pm at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Franklin. Roles are available for 13 men ranging in age from 20 to 70. There will be cold readings from the script. Production dates are October 23-24, 29-31, November 1, and November 6-7. The Junior Youth Actors' Guild is taking their show on the road! They'll be touring five Williamson County libraries presenting poems and skits such as 'The Ugly Duckling,' 'Madeline,' and 'The Stinky Cheese Man,' a modern retelling of the Gingerbread Man tale. They also have an exciting lineup of guest clinicians for their monthly workshops this year, including sign-language expert Harriet Harms and the Nashville Opera Educational Tour! Please spread the word about our meetings, which are for ages 6-12 and take place from 10:30 am to 12 noon on the last Saturday of most months.

Curtain Call's Youth Actors' Guild summer production of An Evening of Culture opens July 10th and runs for two weekends. This hilarious comedy follows the Mineola County Community Theatre as they rehearse their production of Romeo and Juliet. Even though they don't know their lines, the set isn't finished, and a dog keeps barking offstage, they're going to give it a go! Come watch this crazy cast of characters give new meaning to the words 'the show must go on!'

Between 55 & 60 children will be cast in the Missoula Children?s Theatre?s original musical adaptation of ?The Little Mermaid,? and some of those young stars could very well be yours! All youths between the ages of 6 & 17 are welcome to the free audition and no experience is necessary. Auditions will start at 9 a.m. Monday, July 6 at the Ruidoso Middle School gymnasium at 134 Reese Drive. (Parents or guardians are asked to arrive at the audition shortly before the start time so that they may fill out a basic permission slip with contact information). Children are asked to wear comfortable clothing and sneakers, to wear their best smiles and to speak out loud! They also have to be willing to commit to the daily rehearsals held at the Spencer immediately following the auditions. (The show?s directors will issue rehearsal schedules to the children at the close of the audition).

Court Theatre's Board of Trustees and Artistic Director Charles Newell announce the election of Virginia Gerst as the company's Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Gerst replaces Lawrence Strickling who was recently nominated for the position of Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information, U.S. Department of Commerce.

ABroad Stage Company (ABSCo) is gearing up for its debut performance of Jose Rivera?s new version of his best-known play, ?References To Salvador Dali Make Me Hot,? which originally premiered at The Public Theater in 2000. Directed by Pippin Parker, the play will open on Friday, July 10, at the New School for Drama Theater at 151 Bank Street, in the West Village.

In a two-for-one theater event, Fort Lauderdale?s ArtServe is hosting the one-act plays ?Mr. Charles, currently of Palm Beach? by Paul Rudnick and ?Mexico City? by David Leddick. Both plays will star Mr. Leddick, Merry Jo Cortada and Stefan Pinto. Funny and sad, sexy and sinister, the two plays promise an exhilarating emotional experience for the audience. With plays ricocheting between Palm Beach and Mexico City, this is a completely new adventure for theatergoers. The show is directed by David Kingery and the incidental music is by Andrew Sargent. V.J. Colonna is producing with stage management by Jamie Cooper.

Eight acting conservatory students from Stages Theatre Company (STC) are traveling to Bath, England in July as part of a cultural theatre exchange. In return, 13 acting students and three technical theatre students from the Theatre Royal Bath-Young People's Theatre (TRB YPT), the egg, are traveling to Hopkins in August to perform for audiences at STC.

Two-time Tony Award-winning actress Judith Ivey will portray that great woman of American letters -- letters from readers seeking advice, that is -- when she plays the legendary, trailblazing columnist Ann Landers in David Rambo's play The Lady With All The Answers Off-Broadway this fall, starting performances October 7, 2009 at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street) in New York City. B.J. Jones directs. The production will run through November 29. Opening night is October 14.

For the thirteenth consecutive year, the Alley Theatre is providing young playwrights the chance to improve and expand their writing skills with its summer program, Houston Young Playwrights Exchange (HYPE). Six plays by local teens have been selected to undergo development in a professional forum guided by the Alley?s staff, with the program culminating in a three-day public showcase of their work as staged readings ? Friday, July 31 through Sunday, August 2 on the Neuhaus stage. Some plays contain Adult Language.

San Franciscos award-winning AfroSolo Theatre Company presents the 16th annual AfroSolo Arts Festival, celebrating African American artists giving voice to the Black experience. Paying homage to and exploring the rich legacy of African Americans and people of African descent, Festival events (August 1-October 15) featuring live music, visual art, and new works for the stage will take place in San Francisco at Yerba Buena Gardens, the Main San Francisco Public Library, the African American Art and Culture Complex, and the Ella Hill Hutch Community Center.
