According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal's upcoming horror film OUIJA has completed its cast before filming begins in LA this week. Bianca Santos (The Fosters), Erin Moriarty (Red Widow), Ana Coto and Vivis Colombetti (Paranormal Activity 2) have signed on for the movie, directed by Stiles White.

Sundance Institute today announced that the newly restored Hoop Dreams (1994) will screen in the From the Collection program at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, 20 years after the film made its world premiere at the 1994 Festival. The recently completed restoration represents the collaborative effort of Sundance Institute, UCLA Film & Television Archive, the Academy Film Archive and Kartemquin Films. Filmmakers Steve James, Peter Gilbert and Frederick Marx and subject Arthur Agee are expected to participate in an extended Q&A immediately following the January 20 screening. The 2014 Festival will be January 16-26 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that DIRECTV has cast stage and TV star Jenna Fischer (The Office, Reasons To Be Happy), Broadway's Judith Light (The Assembled Parties) and Richard Kind (The Big Knife), as well as Frederick Weller (Plain Sight) and Louisa Krause (Young Adult) in the first of playwright and screenwriter Neil LaBute's 10X10 short film series.

Sundance Institute announced today the program of short films selected to screen at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, January 16-26 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah. The 2014 Short Film program is comprised of 66 short films selected from a record 8,161 submissions (59 more than for the 2013 Festival).

The Philip K. Dick Science Fiction Film Festival made a triumphant return to Williamsburg for its unforgettable second annual event this past weekend. The exclusive three-day gathering screened a total of 37 feature films and shorts and welcomed the arrivals of highly acclaimed filmmakers, distinguished guests and enthusiastic fans to the prestigious IndieScreen theater. Awards were presented to several of the films which were adapted or inspired from the impressive works of Philip K. Dick. This movie will be based on the novel NEVER GO BACK by Lee Child. Paramount and Skydance Productions will return to develop the film, which is on the hunt for a writer.

According to Deadline, Callum Keith Rennie (Battlestar Galactica) is the latest actor to sign on for Universal and Focus Features' FIFTY SHADES OF GREY film adaptation. FIFTY SHADES will star Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey alongside Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele, with Rennie cast as Steele's stepfather 'Ray Steele'.
