The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) holiday box office will open to the general public on October 29 for FPAC's annual presentation of Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker and on November 5 for Humbug!, FPAC's original musical adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol.

The Peterborough Players officially broke ground last month to build on-campus housing for its actors and interns. Those attending the ceremony were board and staff members, interns, architects, builders, and friends including comedian, Janie Condon, whose show Janie Condon: Raw & Unchained was the final production of the Players' 2012 theatre season.

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) presents Emmy®-nominated guest conductor Benjamin Wallfisch, considered "one of UK's most exciting young composers" (BBC Music Magazine), who makes his LACO debut conducting the world premiere of his own Violin Concerto on Saturday, November 10, 8 pm, at the Alex Theatre and Sunday, November 11, 7 pm, at UCLA's Royce Hall. LACO commissioned the work for LACO's Assistant Concertmaster/soloist Tereza Stanislav, acclaimed for her "sure technique and musical intelligence" (Calgary Herald), on the occasion of her 10th anniversary with the Orchestra. Also featured on the program are Beethoven's Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 36, noted for its humor, depth, power and vitality, and Elgar's virtuosic Introduction and Allegro for Strings, Op. 47.

The Jewish Museum will present an author talk featuring Rabbi Joshua Eli Plaut, on Monday, November 5 at 11:30 am. Rabbi Plaut will read from his new book, A Kosher Christmas (Rutgers University Press, 2012), the first on the subject of Jews and Christmas in the United States, which portrays how Jews are shaping the public and private character of Christmas by transforming December into a joyous holiday season belonging to all Americans. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square will visit six cities in America's heartland next summer -- their first visit to the upper Midwest since 2009. The tour will include stops in Columbus, Indianapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison and Minneapolis from June 12 through June 20, 2013 and will feature the 360-voice world-renowned choir and 65 members of the Orchestra at Temple Square.
