Lookingglass Theatre Company announces the second extension of Metamorphoses, based on the myths of Ovid from a translation by David Slavitt, written and directed by Ensemble Member Mary Zimmerman, and produced in association with Arena Stage. The revival production, coinciding with the 10th Anniversary of the Broadway production, is now playing through the holidays at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave. at Pearson.

Hawaiian reggae artists, The Green, come to Hard Rock Cafe on the Strip with special guests Natural Vibrations and Billy Van on Sunday, November 4.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company will welcome back Second City alum and star of HBO's hit comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm, Jeff Garlin in Closer Than I Appear, December 4 - 16, 2012. Jeff returns to Steppenwolf following his popular, sold-out run of No Sugar Tonight in 2011. Join him for a hilarious and ever-changing night of stand-up comedy in Steppenwolf's intimate Upstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St). Jeff will be "up there doing his thing" for at least one hour 15 minutes. Buddy the Elf is bringing the North Pole to Seattle this holiday season when ELF - The Musical takes over The 5th Avenue Theatre. Under the direction of Seattle's theatrical superstar Eric Ankrim (in his 5th Avenue directorial debut), Elf will feature Seattle's singing and dancing wunderkind Matt Owen as Buddy, the iconic Christmas groupie, alongside Broadway's Kendra Kassebaum as his true love, Jovie. Owen and Kassebaum are joined by Broadway vet Kim Huber, and Seattle stars Sean G. Griffin, Allen Fitzpatrick, Cynthia Jones, Nick DeSantis, and Jessica Skerritt.

The Howard County Arts Council has announced that Dr. Kathleen Hetherington, President of Howard Community College, will serve as Honorary Chair of the 2013 Celebration of the Arts in Howard County. The Celebration gala, presented by the Arts Council, will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. at the Peter and Elizabeth Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center at Howard Community College. Dr. Hetherington will make opening remarks in the Smith Theatre during the 90-minute program, which features the Rising Star Competition.

Mitchell Fain is unfurling his candy stripe tights once more for Theater Wit's ninth consecutive outing of The Santaland Diaries. Adapted for the stage by Joe Mantello, and directed by Theater Wit Artistic Director Jeremy Wechsler, The Santaland Diaries returns November 23-December 30, 2012 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Conductor Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos leads the Los Angeles Philharmonic in two weekend programs at Walt Disney Concert Hall, Thursday through Saturday, November 8 through 10, at 8 pm, and Friday and Saturday, November 16 and 17, at 8 pm as well as Sunday, November 18, at 2 pm.

Conservators from the American Institute for Conservation Collections Emergency Response Team (AIC-CERT) and The Museum of Modern Art will participate in a consortium on conserving works of art damaged by flooding, on Sunday, November 4, from 12 noon to 2 p.m., at The Museum of Modern Art.

Sarasota Youth Opera will present the world premiere of a brand new work, Little Nemo in Slumberland, with music by Daron Hagen and words by J.D. McClatchy, commissioned by the Sarasota Opera Association. This will mark the Sarasota Youth Opera and Sarasota Opera Association's 5th commission since the programs inception in 1984. The child principal roles will be performed by members of the Sarasota Youth Opera program and the adult principal roles will be performed by members of the Sarasota Opera Apprentice and Studio Artists Program. In addition, singers and performers from Booker High School, Out of Door Academy and Sailor Circus will help to round out the cast making for a total of 107 Sarasota young people on the stage of the Sarasota Opera House.

Performance Network Theatre, Ann Arbor's professional theatre known for bringing Michigan audiences the hottest new scripts from New York and beyond, is proud to announce the December installment of its Fireside New Play Festival, showcasing four full-length plays as from emerging American playwrights. These new plays have been selected from hundreds of submissions and will be showcased to the public at Performance Network from Sunday, December 2 through Wednesday, December 5 in developmental performances known as a "staged readings."

The Funkey Monkeys will perform two concerts for families at The Jewish Museum on Sunday, November 11 at 11:30 am and 2:00 pm. Described as 'Seinfeld meets the Wiggles,' this uniquely hip eight-member band incorporates funny sketches and improvised bits, along with their special brand of funky kid's music, ranging from driving afrobeat to ethereal ballads. Funkey Monkeys will perform songs ranging from their new single, 'Baba Ganoush (Do You Want To Eat A Pita?)' to recent hits such as 'Mustache' and 'Cupcake,' and let audience favorite Monkey Mike loose for adventures in the Museum.

Museum of the Moving Image, in collaboration with DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. (Nasdaq: DWA), will present The Art of Rise of the Guardians, an entertaining and revelatory exhibition of behind-the-scenes production design materials, including original artwork, and video sequences that trace the creative process and craftsmanship behind the studio's remarkable new film, which arrives in theaters on November 21. On view from November 10, 2012, through March 3, 2013, the exhibition explores the unique collaborative process involving artists, designers, writers, and an enormous filmmaking team. An extensive retrospective of DreamWorks Animation films, including the franchise properties of Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and Madagascar along with the studio's first CGI film, Antz, will accompany the exhibition throughout its run.

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, Cincinnati's stage for the classics, is delighted to present Osacr Wilde's most perfect comedy, "The Importance of Being Earnest" playing from November 23- December 16, 2012. Due to scheduling and transportation issues related to Hurricane Sandy, Prospect Theater Company has decide to postpone its one-night-only staged reading of Rob Urbinati's Death By Design, originally scheduled for Monday, November 5. A rescheduled date will be announced when available.
