Lindsay Posner returns to the Almeida to direct Rebecca Lenkiewicz' new stage adaptation of Henry James' The Turn of the Screw from 18 January - 16 March 2013, with press night on 24 January. The cast comprises Caroline Bartleet (a woman), Laurence Belcher (Miles), Eoin Geoghegan (a man), Gemma Jones (Mrs. Grose), Anna Madeley (The Governess), Orlando Wells (Sackville) and Isabella Blake, Emilia Jones and Lucy Morton who will alternate the role of Flora. Set within the California prison system, the largest incarcerated population in the world, Oedipus, El Rey shows us gang hierarchy as it collides with fate. The play examines free will and whether the 'curse'of violence plaguing generations can be appeased without an ultimate sacrifice to the gods. Propheciesof the barrio rule the lives of its people, crushing families with the iron hand of 'el destino'(destiny). Has the path already been determined? How much is really up to us?

Carol Carpenter's familial drama The Guadalupe will be presented by On the Square Productions' Write Angle Reading series at University Settlement on November 26th at 7:30pm in Speyer Hall where On the Square Productions is an Artist-In-Residence for their 2012-2013 season. The play will be directed by David Stallings.

Centenary Stage Company will present The Wizard of Oz for their Holiday Musical Spectacular. Opening this Friday the 23rd at 8 p.m., shows are already filling up fast. Audiences can begin the holiday season with a family classic brought to life at the Sitnik Theatre in the David and Carol Lackland Center. Featuring a cast of 50 actors on the stage, The Wizard of Oz is a musical tradition following the story of Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Lion and Toto, too. These beloved characters visit Hackettstown on their way to the Emerald City, as CSC presents the ROYAL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY'S (RSC) adaptation by Frank Gabrielson and John Kane, with Music and Lyrics from the MGM motion picture score by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg. The RSC said this adaptation came about when the Artistic Director of the company asked for a show that could be performed annually over the Christmas season, so this show is especially made for families to celebrate the holiday season.

The 35th annual production of A Christmas Carol at Theatre Memphis is coming back to the stage with an additional Saturday matinee performance for 2012. The veteran stage actor Barry Fuller returns as Scrooge and a A Christmas Carol director Jason Spitzer returns as well. After record breaking attendence in 2011, the 2012 cast will be scurrying around a London-scrim set that Christopher McCollum, current resident scenic designer at Theatre Memphis, designed for the traditional holiday classic. Patron requests for a family package of tickets to the holiday event have been answered with a new Holiday Family Pack for tickets to A Christmas Carol that are good through December 9, 2012. The package contains two adult and two youth/student tickets for only $60. Additional youth/student tickets can be purchased at the same time as the Pack is purchased for only $10 each. There is a limit to one Holiday Family Pack per family.

The all-new production of JEKYLL & HYDE will make its Philadelphia premiere for a holiday engagement on Dec. 26 - 30 at the Forrest Theatre. Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis will star in the title dual role of Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde, alongside Grammy Award nominee and R&B superstar Deborah Cox as Lucy. The press opening will be Wednesday, Dec. 26 at 7:30 pm.

This January, the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (NJSO) presents its 2013 Winter Festival: Air and the Atmosphere-the third season of a multi-year odyssey spotlighting the symbolic power of natural elements that have inspired composers for centuries. The festival, which runs January 4-6 and 25-27, encompasses two concert programs celebrating air and the atmosphere-from the most intimate to the most infinite-in music. Music Director Jacques Lacombe leads each Winter Festival program. Performances will take place at four of the Orchestra's venues throughout the state of New Jersey.

The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced a $3,000 surplus at its Annual General Meeting this week. "This is a great achievement for the Alliance," says Michael Rubinoff, the newly elected President to the Board of Directors at TAPA. "The surplus will help to move the organization forward to achieving financial stability in order to continually provide meaningful, quality services to our members."

Due to popular demand, Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) has announced a second, final extension of its critically-acclaimed, sold-out New York premiere of THE WHALE, a new play by Obie Award winner Samuel D. Hunter (A Bright New Boise). Originally set to play a limited engagement through Sunday, December 2, the production originally extended to Sunday, December 9 and now extends to Saturday, December 15 at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street). This holiday season DSI Comedy Theater is giving audiences weekly chances each week to relive their holiday stress with hilarious evenings of comedy. Beginning Saturday, December 1 at 9 p.m., the comedy hot spot is running Love In The Time of Santa Claus, a sketch comedy revue. The show runs through December 22.
