Contemporary classical group Musiqa will present its first 2013 concert, Percussive Illusions, at the Hobby Center's Zilkha Hall on January 12 at 7:30 p.m. The concert features the award-winning University of Houston Percussion Ensemble, directed by Blake Wilkins. The concert explores the evolution of percussion throughout the past century, highlighting its rhythmic virtuosity and timbral richness through a variety of works and instrumentation. Percussion's capacity to shape the experience of film is also explored in a trio of films curated by Aurora Picture Show.

City Theatre begins the New Year with Seminar, a sharp, Broadway comedy about power, sex, and art by Theresa Rebeck. Directed by Tracy Brigden, Seminar runs on City Theatre's Mainstage from January 19 to February 10, 2013, with an Opening Night performance on Friday, January 25 at 8pm.

Opening Thursday, January 17th, 2013 and running until Sunday, February 3rd, 2013, Alemaedae Theater & Xavier Films present in cooperation with Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP), the hilarious comedy stage play The Wonderful World of Peter Williams. The play, a highly anticipated prequel to the hit comedy stage play So Fierce: Peter Williams, was written and produced by Alemaedae Theater's CEO / Founder Phil Davis Sr. and stars RLTP Ensemble member Barry Williams as Peter Williams. Universal Pictures Stage Productions, Working Title Films, Old Vic Productions and NETworks Presentations, LLC announced that Drew Minard and Mitchell Tobin will join the national touring cast of the 10-time Tony Award-winning Billy Elliot the Musical, in the role of ‘Billy.' They will rotate playing the role with Ben Cook and Noah Parets who joined the tour earlier this year. Minard and Tobin have become the 12th and 13th young actors to perform as ‘Billy' in the national tour; their debuts also marked the 67th and 68th boys to play ‘Billy' on stage worldwide and the 28th and 29th boys to play ‘Billy' in North America since the show opened on Broadway. Minard's first performance was December 15, and Tobin's was December 16, both in Austin, TX.

Florida Grand Opera (FGO) has announced the appointment of a new Director of Development, Amy Funk, effective Jan. 7, 2013. She will work closely with FGO's General Director and CEO, Susan T. Danis, a former colleague, in mapping out the fundraising program as the company approaches its 73rd anniversary.

The Marriott Theatre, 10 Marriott Drive in Lincolnshire, will present an all-star cast in the World Premiere of NOW AND FOREVER: The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, featuring the legendary composer's greatest musical treasures. The production, which launches the 2013 season, will preview January 16, open January 23 and run through March 17.
