STC Launches Expert Witnesses Series with Fred Thompson, 3/18

The Shakespeare Theatre Company's legal affinity group, the Bard Association, unveils Expert Witnesses, a new series of interviews with prominent members of the legal community who have bridged the gap to the arts world. Former Senator and television star of Law & Order, Fred Thompson, will inaugurate a sequence of high profile, one-on-one interviews with Bard Association Chair Abbe David Lowell (Chadbourne & Parke LLP). Expert Witnesses will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Lansburgh Theatre (450 7th Street NW).

This week two Pace University acting students and one professor will appear in films at the Sundance Film Festival which runs January 17 - 27. Lecturer Julie Fain Lawrence is appearing in a film that is among the 16 films chosen for the US Dramatic Competition. In all, 119 films were chosen for the festival out of 12,146 submissions.

Theatre at the Center's 2013 season tees off with the Chicago area premiere of the hilariously farcical THE FOX ON THE FAIRWAY. The play will run February 14 through March 24 at 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, with a press performance Sunday, February 17 at 7 p.m. Written as a homage by Ken Ludwig (CRAZY FOR YOU, LEND ME A TENOR, MOON OVER BUFFALO) to the great English farces of the 1930s and 1940s, THE FOX ON THE FAIRWAY takes audiences on a sidesplitting romp which pulls the rug out from underneath the stuffy denizens of a private country club.

The record breaking, award-winning Off-Broadway play Tribes will end its monumental run, playing its final performance this Sunday evening, January 20, 2013 at the Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow Street) after 19 preview and 365 regular performances. The celebrated West Village theater will next be home to the New York Premiere of Ike Holter's Hit the Wall, which begins previews on February 19, 2013, with an official opening night set for March 10, 2013.

Teen actress Jordan Van Vranken is hosting her third Annual Bowl-A-Thon Sunday, January 20th to raise money to support kids with cancer, specifically the children housed at Memphis' Ronald McDonald House who are being treated at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Jordan created the Bowl-A-Thon event as a way to help raise additional funds and allow her Los Angeles-based friends and fellow actors to participate in this worth-while cause.

The New York premiere of Women of Will, Shakespeare & Company Founding Artistic Director Tina Packer's groundbreaking exploration of Shakespeare's canon arrives Off-Broadway at The Gym at Judson later this month for an ambitious five month run. Women of Will begins preview performances on January 29 with the official press opening slated for February 3 at 7:00pm and running through June 2. Eric Tucker (Pinter's Mirror at S&Co.), who directed Packer in the world premiere of Women of Will at Shakespeare & Company in 2010, returns to direct. Nigel Gore (Hamlet, Antony and Cleopatra), a longtime Company member and collaborator on Women of Will, stars alongside Packer in the Off-Broadway debut.
