Hugh Jackman, who was most recently seen on Broadway opposite Daniel Craig in A STEAD RAIN, has declined the opportunity to host the Oscar telecast for a third straight year, deadline.com reports. Last year, Jackman reportedly had to turn down the prestigious gig to prep for his role in the movie The Real Steel. He also was vary of hosting the show two consecutive years Jackman will be unable to host the 2011 ceremony, as he will be preoccupied with X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Filming begins in late February/early March of 2011.

Last night, November 7, everyone's favorite wizard, Daniel Radcliffe, put down his broom in favor of fangs for a spoof on the 'Twilight' craze on FOX's 'The Simpsons.'

As previously announced, both Gwyneth Paltrow will be appearing on Fox's hit series GLEE on November 16, in an episode entitled, 'The Substitute'. Gwyneth will star as a substitute teacher for Will Schuester's Spanish class and glee club when he gets sick.

This morning, Friday, November 5th, Tony Award winner Bill Irwin rehearsed a special vaudeville routine with 4th graders at PS/IS 111. On November 5th, Irwin will team up with the children to rehearse the finale of The New 42nd Street Gala, celebrating The New Victory Theater Education Program, at which Irwin will receive the first-ever New Victory Arts Award.

On October 2, Emily Skinner joined the Broadway company of Billy Elliot as the beloved Mrs. Wilkinson, a role she took nationwide on the first national tour of the show. BroadwayWorld recently caught up with the busy triple threat to talk about how it feels to bring the role home to Broadway.

Emmy Award winner and GLEE scene-stealer Jane Lynch will host TV'S FUNNIEST HOLIDAY MOMENTS: A PALEY CENTER FOR MEDIA SPECIAL airing Friday, Nov. 26 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Lynch will lend her voice as she counts down the small screen's most memorable seasonal moments from the famous Thanksgiving food fight on 'Cheers' to Christmas gone horribly wrong on FAMILY GUY and the hilarious holiday newsletter scene from 'Two and a Half Men.'

Performances began at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) on October 28, 2010 and continue through December 12, 2010. In-studio and production drawings from the upcoming 'Dorothy of Oz' animated film have been released by Summertime Entertainment! In the film, the title and beloved role of Dorothy Gale will be played by Golden-Globe nominated actress Lea Michele, star of television's hit series GLEE. Also known for her acclaimed Broadway roles in Spring Awakening and Les Misérables, Lea makes her feature film and animation voice-over debut with 'Oz' and will also be providing vocals on several original musical numbers.

The Broadway community mourns the loss of Jerry Bock, who passed away yesterday at age 81. The marquees of Broadway theatres in New York will be dimmed in his memory tonight, November 4, at exactly 8:00pm for one minute.

BroadwayWorld has learned that THE MERCHANT OF VENICE has had to push back it's official press opening to accommodate its star, Lily Rabe, who must miss the next several performances for family reasons. Opening night had been set for this Sunday, November 7. A rep for the production states that they are now aiming for a November 15 opening night instead and will be confirming sometime next week.

The New York Times reports this afternoon that a second SPIDER-MAN performer has come forward to report an injury as a result of the show's complicated stunts. This second performer - who is remaining anonymous - claims to have broken both feet during the same catapult stunt from which Kevin Aubin broke both wrists, as BroadwayWorld reported earlier today.
