Berkeley Rep opened the theatrical world premiere presentation of AMELIE, A NEW MUSICAL, starring LES MISERABLES' Samantha Barks on September 11. The show runs through Sunday, October 4, 2015.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre presents award-winning British actress Samantha Barks in the world premiere of AMELIE, A NEW MUSICAL directed by Tony Award winner Pam MacKinnon (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?). Barks, who is best known for her stand-out performance as Eponine in the film adaptation of LES MISERABLES.  She will portray the inquisitive and charmingly shy Amelie. Her most recent theatre credits include City of Angels, Cabaret, and Oliver! in London's West End, and Chicago at The Hollywood Bowl. She will be joined by Randy Blair (Hipolito), Adam Chanler-Berat (Nino), Alison Cimmet(Amandine/Philomene), Carla Duren (Gina),John Hickok (Raphael/Bretodeaux), Alyse Alan Louis (Georgette/Fluffy/Sylvie), and Paul Whitty (Joseph).

Signature Theatre opened The Fix directed by Signature Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer (Broadway's Gigi, Follies, Million Dollar Quartet). Featuring a book by John Dempsey and music by Dana P. Rowe (the creators of Brother Russia and The Witches of Eastwick).  The show quickly became a favorite among Signature's artistic team during its U.S. premiere at the Theatre in 1998, cementing a longstanding relationship with Dempsey and Rowe. Running in the MAX Theatre August 11 - September 20,the inside-politics musical satire is the first production of Signature Theatre's 2015/2016 season. 

BroadwayWorld previously reported that Tenor Jonas Kaufmann warned fans not to buy the Puccini Album from Decca, uriging fans to wait until the 'real' Puccini album is released with Sony on September 11.

Dallas Theater Center presents the world premiere of MOONSHINE: That Hee Haw Musical, a new musical comedy with music and lyrics by award-winning songwriters Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally and a book by Robert Horn. The Huntington Theatre Company will open its 2015-2016 season with the Tony Award-winning musical A Little Night Music, Stephen Sondheim's most romantic and popular work, led by Tony and Olivier nominee Haydn Gwynne, as well as Broadway's Stephen Bogardus and Lauren Molina. Huntington Artistic Director Peter DuBois (after all the terrible things I do; Smart People; Rapture, Blister, Burn; and Becky Shaw) will direct. Hickam, Jr. The show opened on August 26.
