The U.S. premiere of Nick Dear's adaptation Frankenstein will be directed by Sam Buntrock, returning to the DCPA Theatre Company after directing the 2013 World Premiere of Ed, Downloaded. Buntrock's directing credits include Sunday in the Park with George (Broadway, West End, Menier and 5th Avenue Seattle). The production won 5 Olivier Awards including Outstanding Musical Production and was nominated for 9 Tony Awards including Best Director. Stephen Schwartz's new musical, SCHIKANEDER - The turbulent love story behind The Magic Flute is a romantic musical comedy about the actor, singer, director, writer and impresario Emanuel Schikaneder and his wife, Eleonore Schikaneder made its world premiere on 30 September 2016. It continues the VBW's tradition of creating new in-house productions - the autumn production of SCHIKANEDER will be the Raimund Theater's twelfth world premiere musical. Goodman Theatre presents Mary Zimmerman's revival of Wonderful Town, extending the show through October 23. Five Chicago actor-musicians made their Theatre at the Center debut in this production. Christine Mild as Rhetta Cupp, Shaun Whitley as Jim, Matt Holzfeind as Jackson, Matt Edmonds as L.M. and Cody Siragusa as Eddie are joined by Veronica Garza, who returns to the TATC stage to play Rhetta's sister Prudie Cupp. Directed by Brian Russell with musical direction by William Underwood, Pump Boys and Dinettes will continue through October 16.  Check out some songs from the show below!

Broadway's Rufus Bonds, Jr. will be tilting at windmills on The 5th Avenue Theatre stage when he takes over the role of Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha. Bonds was recently seen as Porgy in The Gershwins' Porgy & Bess in London's West End, and was a member of the original Broadway casts of RENT and Parade. This new production is the first of The 5th Avenue Theatre's 2016/17 season and also features Don Darryl Rivera as Sancho and Nova Payton as Aldonza with direction by Allison Narver and choreography by Maria Torres.
