American vocalist Daniel Neer presents a concert of new songs from his operetta-in-development, with music by Viennese operetta composer Robert Stolz and book, libretto, and new English lyrics by Neer. The concert is accompanied by Austrian pianist Markus Koropp and previews eight songs from the production with new translations by Neer. The work tells the fictional story of a successful Austrian conductor and composer before, during, and after the Anschluss of March 1938, following his close friends and theater colleagues in the early years of the Holocaust. Using classic operetta conventions and the format of a Jukebox Musical, the story features the songs of Robert Stolz to illuminate the intersection of art and political strife.
