Since 2002 fortyfivedownstairs, a not-for-profit organisation, has offered an evocative urban space and a personalised service to an eclectic mix of artists for theatre, visual arts, forum, music and dance .

Gallery: Simone Hine
Rooms
Until 3 July

Simone Hine's astounding, gallery-spanning exhibition Rooms opened last night.

Simone has transformed our gallery spaces, creating a series of rooms; spaces inhabited by her intruiging, sometimes eery, installation and video works.

Rooms is on for three weeks and we highly recommend a visit.

Theatre: Othello
The Kingsmen
7 - 26 June

Peter King's unconventional direction of Shakespeare's Othello is keeping things lively in the fortyfivedownstairs theatre.

The play features a number of very strong performances from a cast of talented young actors. Australian Stage Online said, "The two leads, Anthony Taufa as Othello and Annie Last as Desdemona, bring measured and masterful performances, carrying the audience with them at all times."

Until 26 June
Tuesday - Saturday 7.30pm, Sunday 5.00pm
Full $35 / Conc $25

Theatre: Topsy
Here Theatre
30 June - 7 July

Topsy tells a behind-the-scenes story of the death of the notorious elephant on Coney Island in the early 20th century.

Melbourne writer Kit Lazaroo and director Jane Woollard have sculpted this dark story to include elements of comedy, song, whimsy and fable.
