VMDO Presents Fed Square Live Concert, Today

As Melbourne resets into longer days and warmer nights, the new Victorian Music Development Office (VDMO) have curated a hot program featuring four very special Melbourne-based artists at a free Fed Square Live concert on Friday, 19 October 2018.

In all their soulful and gritty glory, The Merindas will take to the Fed Square main stage alongside an incredible line up of some of Melbourne's most outstanding emerging First Peoples musicians: Kee'ahn, Bumpy and Riverboy.

Creating an atmospheric fusion of contemporary electro pop stylings and indigenous song, the Melbourne-based female duo: The Merindas will get the weekend started with their expressive sounds dedicated to their cultural heritage.

The exciting line up also features Kuku Yalanji, Jirrbal and Badu Island songbird Kee'ahn with her acoustic guitar; the powerhouse vocals of Noongar woman: Bumpy; and Riverboy, the new project by Narayana Johnson from the electronic duo Willowbeats.

Recently, the VMDO appointed Yorta Yorta musician and educator, Neil Morris as Music Business Manager First Peoples - who programmed the Fed Square Live concert.

"'One focus at the VMDO is our investment to create and facilitate opportunities for Victorian based First Peoples music artists and managers through a series of partnerships with the music sector, including festivals and digital platforms," explained Morris.

The VDMO is key component in the Victorian Government's Music Works strategy committed to developing the Victorian music industry.

Fed Square Live is a free all ages event - there will be food trucks, bean bags and astroturf for music lovers to kick back and let the good times roll.
