Written by well known local playwright, Rob Parnell, Kool Kafe is a fun musical/ comedy set in the sizzling 1970s.

It's August, 1976, in a large Victorian country town. Darlene wants desperately to go to Veterinary College - but will her exam results be good enough to allow her entry?

Meanwhile, her parents and Grandma Ruby's café is under threat from the opening of a new pizza bar next door. They will do anything - and so will their supporters - to save the Kool Kafe.

The high school customers and the country locals at the Kool Kafe do all they can to rally support for their favourite tea-time dive - and some take desperate measures to jeopardize the pizza bar's success. But will their combined actions be enough to counter Mario - the pizza bar owner - and his dastardly plans? The Kool Kafe seems destined to lose its business to the unwanted newcomer. But - is there some other way to fight back?

But the times they are a'changin'.

With the death of Elvis Presley, the rock n roll music of the past is giving way to a new sound on the dance floor: and the Kool Kafe must accept that the only thing more popular than pizza is disco music.

Kool Kafe is a shameless romp through what many now regard as the golden age of music, fashion and far-out-ness. Come and join the cast of over 35 fun loving actors, singers and dancers - and help make this a Blackwood Players production another 2011 success.

High school students - 11 to 17 year olds - up to a dozen

Chorus and other roles - Kafé regulars and customers including farm labourers

Please note that there is some flexibility in the ages of the cast and all under 30's are encouraged to audition.
