At his inaugural Theatre Guild Season Launch held last night, new Chair Ben McCann was delighted to announce the programme of productions to be presented by the Theatre Guild in the Little Theatre throughout 2009:

June Thurs 18, Fri 19 & Sat 20 at 7.30pm First Time Out '09 – Altered States of Consciousness New writing by students of the Creative Writing Program Interpreted for the stage by an ensemble of Theatre Guild actors Directed by Michael Allen August Sat 8, Tues-Sat 11-15 & 18-22 at 7.30pm Richard II by William Shakespeare Directed by Harry Dewar “For God’s sake, let us sit upon the ground and tell sad stories of the death of kings” October Sat 17, Tues-20-24 & 27-31 at 7.30pm Oleanna by David Mamet Directed by Ben McCann "What I say is right" - a play about language, sex, and power
Dr McCann said "It's an exciting line up that combines a range of contemporary and classic plays and highlights our commitment to providing a thought-provoking, diverse and varied program each year. I am particularly thrilled to confirm the continuing collaboration with the University's Creative Writing Discipline which offers many opportunities for student participation and showcases the vitality of the Theatre Guild's engagement with the University community".
