Seattle's Theatre Simple Returns to Australia for 10th Adelaide Fringe

This is theater simple's 10th fringe... the first one in 1988 we watched, and had our little minds effectively blown and re-pieced into much more interesting shapes... and then we've been to Adelaide 9 more times, with over 35 performers, building three theater spaces, and bringing 25 productions over to Australia over the years...

This Adelaide Fringe we are bringing FIVE shows! Two Australian premieres (The Snow Queen and Gerda's Journey), one long time fave (52 Pick Up), a play for young people and avid readers (Myth Understandings) and a play about a play about lettuce (This Is a Play). Covering the acting duties of these 5 plays will be a simpleton crew of 7, and a local crew
of actors filling out the company in Gerda's Journey. (It's the first year we're hiring
AUSTRALIAN simpletons to act with us, as well as an Aussie designer and a publicist!!)
An award-winning, internationally acclaimed company, theater simple was created to strip
the theatrical experience down to its elemental parts: the imagination of the actor and
audience, the playwright's words and the director's vision.

Performing and touring internationally since 1991, and in Adelaide since 1996, the
simpletons have participated in international arts festivals from East (Spoleto l USA,
Charleston) to West (Perth Festival Fringe, WA) to the Far East (Flipside, Singapore Arts
Festival). In over 19 years of touring and producing, theater simpletons have built six
theaters in Seattle and Australia, had over 1000 performances, and produced over 40 plays
in four countries on three continents. They have received the Fringe Grand Prize, as well as
a Best Play award from the Adelaide Advertiser. In 1998, in fact, their curated venue, 'The
Foreign Legion' swept all three Best Play awards ... Not bad for a bunch of theater geeks!!
