Queensland Theatre Company and QPAC have announced that they are each searching for Emerging Indigenous Producers - two new roles created to increase the national and international touring capacity of the Indigenous performing arts industry, supported by the Australia Council for the Arts. Applications close on Monday 18 July.
Queensland Theatre Company Artistic Director Wesley Enoch said "There's a national trend towards growing Indigenous performance. The Sydney Opera House and Performing Lines are also looking at engaging Indigenous Producers in the next few months."The opportunity to mentor Indigenous producers at QTC and QPAC is part of our commitment to developing new audiences and practitioners from diverse backgrounds. By increasing the depth of talent and offering a range of experiences we will support these Indigenous producers to capitalise on the increased international demand for Indigenous performance and to help shape the future of touring in this country."Both roles are full-time for 18 months and include an industry mentorship aspect as well as opportunies for increasing professional networks both nationally and internationally. The positions are open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and applicants can find the selection criteria and position details on both Queensland Theatre Company and QPAC's websites.
