Publicist Suzie Howie has succombed to cancer at the age of 63 on the eve of the opening of her last show, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. It was a 7 year battle with breast cancer.
Howie was known as the "Doyenne of Publicists," working with everyone from Andrew Lloyd Weber to Cameron Mackintosh, and huge musicals such as Cats, Les Miserables, Jersey Boys, The Phantom of the Opera, Wicked and Mary Poppins.
Howie publicised more than 600 shows ranging from drama, opera, ballet and circuses, along with countless international celebrities.
Cameron Mackintosh wrote, "There are no words to express what you mean to me and how much I have depended on you for advice and support over the last 30 years.' She will be greatly missed.
