North of Eight, a new artist-led creative ensemble, launches this November 30 at the Courthouse Hotel in North Melbourne

Founded by practicing artists who met through the Howard Fine Acting Studio Australia, North of Eight have a collective passion for the disciplined craft of storytelling.

In an industry where women tend to be underrepresented, North of Eight is proud to have 13 vitally intelligent, talented and driven women invested in the ensemble and its growth.

The evening will unveil the company's inaugural 2017 season, including four Australian premieres of both local and international works.

After 11 months of collaborative planning, North of Eight Chair, Sally McLean, and the rest of the

ensemble are ready to launch into Melbourne's vibrant arts scene.

"At a time when it is important for artists to hold up a mirror and give all of us a chance to reflect on where we have come from and where we could be headed, I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with this multi-talented group of artists who share such a clear and unique vision," Ms McLean said.

"We have an extraordinarily talented and dedicated ensemble and I am very much looking forward to North of Eight joining the dynamic Melbourne creative scene in 2017."
