The Grind Show presented by Nexus Multicultural Arts
Fri 5 & Fri 12 Mar at 11pm (House Band: Caliente)
Sat 6 & Sat 13 Mar at 11pm (House Band: Golonka)
Take a late-night journey through the looking glass into the dark, sensuous retreat that is The Grind Show. Host Sen Bednikov will hold sway over a musical mash-up of Gypsy, Klezmer, Tango, Samba and Bossa Nova, with each night of The Grind Show promising a different line-up.

Brilliant Creatures from Planet Fringe by The Imagineers
Open Studio Session: Sat 6 Mar, 11am - 5pm
The Imagineers, a team of talented face and bodypaint artists, will be showcasing their whimsical artistry by creating tailored designs on human canvases at Nexus Cabaret. The Open Studio Session will feature a dynamic schedule of body painting, including hair artistry and some special effects. Watch the process as the wild designs develop and the models morph into different identities.

From Chekhov with Love by Adelaide Russian Theatre

Celestial Echoes by Siobhan Owen

16 year-old Siobhan Owen was voted ?Most Outstanding Emerging Talent? at the 2009 SA Folk Awards. Classically trained, Welsh-born Siobhan turns her haunting soprano voice and delicate harp playing to Celestial Echoes, a repertoire of traditional Celtic songs. A truly enchanting act and a talent to watch!

CARMEN by Yasmine Amber Flamenco

Flamenco star Yasmine Amber brings to the stage her modern interpretation of the raw, sensual tale of the gypsy CARMEN, in a solo dance performance sizzling with Spanish fire and incorporating live music, traditional Flamenco, Turkish and contemporary dance, acting and singing. This is CARMEN as you've never seen her before!

Ghana In Groove by Dada Nii and the Damushi Ensemble

For the first time ever, Professor Dada Nii has combined his Australian Damushi Ensemble with his ensemble of traditional Ghanaian musicians to create a dynamic show that will leave you inspired, uplifted, and shaking your groove thing!

A group exhibition looking at the darker side of story telling, It came from outer space... explores our cultural fascination with classic 1950s horror and science fiction iconography. Featuring new works by young local artists Simone-Clare Hede (ceramics), Joshua Smith (stencil work) and Dan Withey (illustration and dioramas).

NEXUS WINS GOVERNOR'S MULTICULTURAL AWARD

Nexus Multicultural Arts was delighted to be named the state winner of the Governor?s Multicultural Award 2009 (Community Sector ? Organisation) at a ceremony held at Government House on Tuesday, 23 February 2010. Dr Henry Kristall, Chair of the Nexus Multicultural Arts Board, and Dr Noris Ioannou, Executive Director of Nexus, were on hand to accept the prestigious award, which was ?for outstanding contribution of a community organisation?.

The news of Nexus? Governor?s Multicultural Award win came on the same day that two Nexus-presented Fringe shows received glowing reviews in the media. Part of the West Side Stories program, Bird Wizdom?s cheeky cabaret piece Violet Rapscallion and the fiery Brazilian guitar trio Caliente both received 5 stars from reviewers in The Advertiser - yet another reason for the dedicated staff of Nexus Multicultural Arts to celebrate this week!

M.Y. Music and Culture Festival 2010
Saturday 20 March in Rundle Mall
Multicultural Youth South Australia (MYSA) in partnership with Carclew Youth Arts invites you to the M.Y. Music and Culture Festival 2010, to be held on Saturday 20 March in Rundle Mall (under the Rundle Mall Canopy in Gawler Place), from 11am onwards. This will be a free, one-day event filled with music, song, dance and information stands of service providers. As a part of Harmony Day celebrations, MYSA would like to present the creative and artistic talents of newly arrived youth to the wider community. Pickled by Chris Scherer
Adelaide Fringe Season at the Tool Shed in Rymill Park
What do you do when you find yourself in a pickle? You cling to self-preservation. "Pickled" features one performer trying to survive (with dignity) the accident which is waiting to happen (which, in this case, is himself). Co-devised and performed by 2009 Australian Dance Award winner Chris Scherer, "Pickled" is a new movement theatre work for an intimate audience of 20, performed in a custom-built shipping container. This Fringe, jump into a shared experience of coping with oneself and get Pickled.

Studio Flamenco presents Paloma
Saturday 22 May at the Dunstan Playhouse
Experience the passion and beauty of Flamenco! Direct from Spain, Paloma Gómez, former principal dancer with the Ballet Nacional de España, presents the intensity and vitality of flamenco in music, song and dance, together with Studio Flamenco. Paloma Gómez began dancing at the age of three and, at 17, joined the Ballet Nacional de España where she danced for 4½ years before joining the Nuevo Ballet Español and later establishing her own dance company. Her Australian tour has been proudly supported by the Australian National University, the Spanish Ministry of Culture and Arts SA.
