Dr Phil Dooley is an astronomer, physicist, writer for Cosmos Magazine and an excellent comedy musician to boot. Described as "Brian Cox meets Tim Minchin" his ode to planet earth premieres at The Butterfly Club this February, replete with expert credentials and stunning comic timing.

The Most Amazing Planet In The Universe shares scientific discoveries and surprising facts about the Earth, the solar system and the galaxy, interspersed with singalong numbers, anecdotes and a chance to ask an actual scientist your burning questions about space.

Between stunning audiences with facts about the colours, weather systems, seasons and elements of our planet, he shows off his comic chops with repurposed rock songs and jokes. He then delves into his classical background with a moving rendition of Debussy's Clair de Lune accompanied by entrancing visuals of the surprisingly numerous moons of the Solar System.

With repurposed pop songs and projections aplenty, there will be karaoke style comedy singalongs and q&a's in equal measure.

Dooley has performed in science shows and festivals in UK and Australia, and runs Science in the Pub nights in Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane. He became something of a household name in science circles after his sciencey version of Jingle Bells went viral on Facebook.

Dooley is no stranger to explaining the cosmos and debunking its myths. His recent article on The Physics of Champagne also went viral late last year, leading to interviews and national syndication on ABC.

The Most Amazing Planet in the Universe - An Astronomers Ode to Earth opens on Monday 4th February and runs until Saturday 9th February. Bookings recommended.
