Aggrieved by the endlessly contemptible treatment of refugees and asylum seekers in offshore detention, it was the belief in her fellow Australians and their generosity of spirit that launched Jessica Hackett on an epic journey. 17,000 signatures, 710 kilometres, 35 days, 2 blisters, and one Melbourne high school teacher hand delivering her petition to Canberra in the height of summer.
Jessica Hackett and 5pound theatre present Journey of a Thousand Smiles playing at The Butterfly Club from Wednesday 18th - Sunday 22nd January. Under the masterful direction of Jason Cavanagh and with musical support by Colin Craig, Jessica presents the remarkable story of her mission to make change.
