Enjoy Sensational Singing at Melbourne International Singers Festival 2018 Image

The School of Hard Knocks is thrilled to present this year's Melbourne International Singers Festival, celebrating our 9th annual Festival of showcasing world renowned artists, performers and educators. #MISF18 will be held in Melbourne's art precinct, over the Queen's Birthday Weekend, from Thursday 7th to Monday 11th June.

Dr Jonathon Welch AM, creator and founding Artistic Director of the Festival, explains that this will be "another wonderful weekend of song and singing, workshops, masterclasses, rehearsals, performances, learning, professional development opportunities and friendships, made and renewed. We invite and warmly welcome all singers, whether they are experienced or novice, sing in a choir, in an ensemble, are a solo performer or just sing in the shower!"

Comments from last year's Festival were glowing .... "What a joy to be part of this festival" and "Loved the whole experience SO MUCH!!!!!!....the workshops, singing, concerts and the interactions with all." ...Well YES... we loved it too and we can't wait for this year's Festival!!!

We are thrilled to announce our concert program, featuring a wonderful mix of fantastic choirs, ensembles and premieres.

· The internationally acclaimed, award winning The Song Company with Artistic Director, Antony Pitts, in "True Love Story" on Friday 8th June at 7.30pm.

· The exciting young talents of XL Arts Inc. present a recital of music by Chopin and associated composers in "Chopin in Song" on Sunday 10th June at 2.30pm.

· Our two "Festival Showcase Concerts" on Saturday 9th June at 7.30pm and on Sunday 10th June at 7pm, respectively feature a wonderful mix of choirs taking part in the Festival. These include The Choir of Hard Knocks, MEN ALOUD!, Divine Divas of Sunbury, The Velvetones, Choir of Southern Lights, THECHO!R, Southern Sistas and Southern Brothers.

· ..... and saving the very best until last, it is with great anticipation we announce that Australia's finest, and funniest music educators, Richard Gill AO, will be our guest festival conductor leading the 300 voice massed festival chorus in our "Festival Finale Concert" on Monday 11th June at 2.30pm.

There is something on offer here for everyone to enjoy. Tickets for all concerts are on sale now!!! Prices start at $25 for adults and $15 for concession and under 18. A concert package is also available which gives access to four concerts (except for "True Love Story"). Please visit our website to book tickets & for further information https://schoolofhardknocks.org.au/events/

Proceeds will also go to support the School of Hard Knocks, launched in 2012 as an extension of the work created by Jonathon with the award winning Choir of Hard Knocks in 2006, to empower marginalised and vulnerable Australians through the arts.

Join us for an unforgettable weekend of musical experiences at #MISF18.
