Dusty Limits' GRIN to Open at The Butterfly Club This Month

By:

Two of the UK's most acclaimed cabaret artists bring their songs to Melbourne for the first time. GRIN: Songs of love and loneliness, death and drinking, by Dusty Limits and Michael Roulston, opens at The Butterfly Club Wednesday 21st June and runs until Sunday 25th June.

'A big black dog came round the other day, threatening to bite me. So I let him'

Grin is a cabaret concert of original songs by Dusty Limits (lyricist) and Michael Roulston (composer), written under the influence of Weill, Waits, Coward, Porter and even Schubert. These songs explore themes ranging from the joys of drinking and the moral poverty of wealth to the warm embrace of Death, all strung together like darkly-glittering jewels by Mr Limits' mordantly witty observations on life, love and the ghastly state of the world. Wickedly funny, passionate, irreverent, sometimes provocative, Grin is for anyone who likes their cabaret on the dark side.

Described by Time Out London as 'The Trailblazer', Dusty Limits has been at the forefront of London cabaret for over a decade, and has performed everywhere from Joe's Pub in New York to backroom bars in Berlin. He has shared the stage with such cabaret luminaries as Meow Meow, Amanda Palmer, Tina C, Ali McGregor, and Geraldine Quinn, and is noted for his powerful, three-octave voice and brilliance as an interpreter of song. Michael Roulston is one of UK cabaret's most in-demand musicians, composers and musical directors. Grin is making its Australian premiere at the prestigious Adelaide Cabaret Festival.
