Critically Acclaimed Traveling Comedy Trio Return Home for Melbourne International Comedy Festival Debut

Fresh from a rollicking tour across the globe, these 'damn fine belles of the sassy bizarre' (Australian Arts Review) are bringing their 'infectious silliness, impish cheek and harmonious musicality' (The Scotsman) to the Butterfly Club for their Melbourne debut at Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Described as 'the triplet sisters of the Mighty Boosh', Brisbane trio The Travelling Sisters have spent the last two years performing overseas. The comedy trio have played to audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, in London, Berlin, Prague Fringe Festival, Bedford Fringe Festival, Glastonbury Festival, Bath Comedy Festival, Clockenflap Festival Hong Kong and Woodford Folk Festival. As well as touring the show, the sisters found time to venture off the beaten track, finding themselves in some rather ridiculous situations. "Travelling opened us up to new ways of thinking, living and creating. It has definitely influenced our tendency towards the surreal and absurd when we devise new work", says performer Lucy Fox.

The Travelling Sisters create "a distinctly otherworldly vibe" (The List) with their offbeat sketch show, made of a cavalcade of characters, physical comedy and songs. Transforming between characters onstage to funky original music, the trio lightly trip across realms. As much as they play with the wacky bizarre, they often find themselves drawn to the humor of home. "When we were living in London, we had so much fun playing with Australian mannerisms, accents and quirks that we've ended up with a whole bunch of ridiculous characters, some of which are very Australian" says performer Laura Trenerry.

After successful seasons at Perth Fringe World and Adelaide Fringe Festival, The Travelling Sisters are excited to be making their debut performance in Melbourne at The Butterfly Club as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
