From October 6 to 7 at The MC Showroom, Company Eleven will stage its first musical, 'They're Playing Our Song'

With a book by Neil Simon, music by Marvin Hamlisch (A Chorus Line) and lyrics by Carole Bayer Sager, 'They're Playing Our Song' will be directed and choreographed by Sam Hooper and feature musical direction by Chris Nolan. The cast will include Glenn Hill (Rob Guest Endowment Winner, Matilda, Hello Dolly), Alana Tranter (Hello Dolly, Ned - The New Australian Musical, Georgy Girl), Baylie Carson (Hello Dolly), Belle Power, Sam Ward (Jesus Christ Superstar) and James Watkinson.

The Company was established by two graduates from the inaugural Victorian College of the Arts 'Bachelor of Music Theatre' degree (Company 11), who thereafter assisted in the facilitation of the "SAVEVCA" campaign in 2009. Nominated for three Tony Awards and three Drama Desk Awards, 'They're Playing Our Song' will be Company Eleven's debut musical, after producing the well-received 'Third World Blues' directed by Margot Fenley.

Directing the production is VCA graduate Sam Hooper. Hooper's recent credits include the international tour of CATS (Really Useful Group), a season of his show Death Becomes You in the Melbourne Cabaret Festival, and directing and choreographing the multi award winning Catch Me If You Can for Old Carey Performing Arts Club, receiving the Victorian Guild Awards for Best Direction and Best Choreography.

Stepping into the role of Sonia Walsk (inspired by Academy Award Winning Lyricist, Carole Bayer Sager) is up and coming music theatre performer Alana Tranter. Also a graduate of the VCA, Tranter is one of the co-founders of Company Eleven. Her professional credits include Georgy Girl, Ned - The New Australian Musical and most recently Ernestina Money in The Production Company's Hello Dolly.

Seasoned performer Glenn Hill plays Vernon Gersch (inspired by Tony Award Winning Composer Marvin Hamlisch). Winner of the 2012 Rob Guest Endowment, Glenn's professional career spans almost 20 years and includes credits such as Matilda, Jesus Christ Superstar, MAMMA MIA! and We Will Rock You. Hill recently played Cornelius Hackle in The Production Company's Hello Dolly, being described as bringing "...a fresh, sincere energy that endears the plucky character to the audience".

Company Eleven will present 'They're Playing our Song' at one of Melbourne's newest performance spaces, The MC Showroom. Seating just over one hundred patrons, the newly established and intimate venue in Prahran will host the show from October 6 to 7.
