Adelaide Festival Centre's inSPACE program presents Cookie Baker

Local chanteuse Cookie Baker invites you to a night of musical storytelling with style at the Space Theatre on 18 and 19 September.

In her first performance in a "theatre" setting but with the relaxed atmosphere and heart of a pub gig, this young songwriter will take you on a mesmerising journey through her over-loaded imagination.

With a stellar creative team and an eight-piece band joining Cookie onstage, the show is described as "a live, interactive video clip" and will include delightful 1950s vintage costumes and a backdrop of moving images and photographs designed by local company TheimaGen.

An effervescent yet relaxed and personable performer and an introspective songwriter, Cookie has shared stages with Augie March, Little Birdy, Old Man River, Ben Lee, Kate Miller-Heidke and TheAudreys, among others. A penchant for creating innovative new concepts in live performance and being a huge supporter of our local live scene saw Miss Cookie sell out her 2008 Adelaide Fringe show 'Dark Horse in an Ivory Veil' (which received a Fringe Award nomination for Best Music) and its subsequent encore performances of the same name. She was also handpicked to appear in the inaugurAl Coopers Alive Live Music Showcase event, which sold out beyond capacity.

Cookie's debut album Gala Day was released nationally in November 2008 through Mixmasters Records and MGM. She has toured throughout Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia and performed at the 2009 Adelaide Fringe.

The "entrée" to Cookie's inSPACE performances is very special guest and fellow Adelaide musician Vorn Doolette, who is fast becoming one of Australia's best-known names on the folk music scene. With a voice that's been described as "richer than chocolate" Vorn will add his own
unique touch of raw emotion and wit to an evening that's bound to make you melt from the inside out.

Settle in for a night of sweet stories!
