Melbourne's Regent Theatre played host to tonight's 11th annual Australian Jazz Bell Awards by Jazz Artist and Chairman Albert Dadon AM and with Tracey Curro as MC. In a musical genre which is going from strength-to-strength in Australia, this night of nights is a chance for the cream of Australian jazz to celebrate our diverse and world-class jazz industry.

Founded in 2003 by Albert Dadon, The Australian Jazz Bell Awards are named after the late Graeme Bell AO and the audience were moved as the evening honoured this Australian Jazz Premier artist in a moving tribute by his wife Dorothy Bell. Often called 'The father of Australian Jazz' his outstanding contribution to the Jazz industry paved the way for all Jazz musicians to follow.

Host and Chairman of the Jazz Bell Awards Albert Dadon AM welcomed the who's who of the Australian jazz scene in the evening's opening speech, "Tonight we celebrate and recognise the success and the talent of the finalists. Every one of them walks on the footsteps of the late Patron of this event, Australian Jazz pioneer Mr Graeme Bell".

The Jazz Bell Awards were thrilled to introduce The Honourable Michael Danby MP, Federal Parliamentary Secretary for The Arts who provided the night's Key Note speech.
A night of electric performances and joyous award recipients was highlighted by the induction into the Australian Jazz Hall of Fame of legendary trumpeter James Morrison.
