2011 Schools Spectacular Presents IMAGINE

By:

The 2011 Schools Spectacular, now in its 28th year, will showcase 3,500 NSW public school students in a cleverly orchestrated and choreographed performance like no other. This year's theme, IMAGINE, is sure to stretch audiences' minds and provide a truly spectacular experience.

This inspirational performing arts showcase will light up the Sydney Entertainment Centre with four shows only on FRIDAY 25 and SATURDAY 26 NOVEMBER. Audiences will have the chance to see the wealth of talent and versatility in today's public schools, and the dedication, commitment and creativity of the teachers who nurture that talent.

Schools Spectacular has grown to be one of the biggest shows on earth, published in the Guinness Book of Records as "the world's biggest variety show", and claimed by audiences across Australia as "the most heart-warming event of the year". This stellar night of entertainment has been captivating audiences since 1984 with brilliantly choreographed and costumed productions performed on an epic scale. This year's extravaganza boasts a 1,200-voice choir; an 80 piece orchestra; 1,500 dancers aged from 5 to 18; and rock, jazz, brass and marching bands with featured soloists aged from 10 to 18.

Schools Spectacular has introduced tens of thousands of students to the thrill of performing to capacity houses and has launched the careers of a host of Australia's most popular performers including Human Nature, Paulini, John Foreman and recent Australia's Got Talent winner, Jack Vidgen.

Telstra is proud to continue its partnership with the NSW Department of Education & Communities as Principal Sponsor of the 2011 Schools Spectacular. Telstra's sponsorship helps students across NSW become part of this special event.

Telstra General Manager, Kingsley McGarrigle, said: "Telstra is pleased to be able to provide high-speed broadband connections which enables students across the state to link up for live webcast rehearsals and makes it possible for the show's production staff to coordinate the event from locations around the State. This is a clear example of how Telstra's technology is investing in the future of NSW's young people."
